![]() So, anyone have any ideas on similar boats I should start loping into? Thanks in advance. Restore an old Lyman: There are plenty around, but I think I'd rather spend all that time and effort making something new. Maybe it's just due to the old photos on the Glen-L site, but it seems just a tad frumpy. Glen-L Nimrod: Very close to what I'm thinking, but it doesn't quite have the elegance I'm looking for. It also might be a little tender when the waves and wakes pick up near the bay. Plus the build seems pretty involved and I think I'd obsesses forever over the finishing, and then always just see the inevitable flaws. Great looking boat, but it may be a little on the tight side for me (I'm 6'2", 180 lbs). More of a runabout and less of a work boat. Nice boat, easy to build, but I want something a little more elegant in that it has seats and a more "sunday afternoon" personality. ![]() So here's what I've been looking at and considering:ĬLC Peeler skiff. I don't care if it's stitch and glue or traditional, but I want something that can go together fairly quickly and easily - I don't want it so demanding that I get bogged down or run out of enthusiasm. I wouldn't ever tow a skier or tube.Įasy enough to build. I doubt that I'd take it out into the open Chesapeake except for on very calm days. Boat has been totally restored about 6 yrs ago with 40k invested just never used original upholstery. I'd be using this boat on the rivers around the Chesapeake bay and trailering it to lakes every now and then. 1949 16ft Century Resorter, runabout wooden boat 14,995 Meredith, New Hampshire Year 1949 Make Century Model Resorter Category Runabout Boats Length 16.0 Posted Over 1 Month 1949 16 Century Resorter open utility, with a 4cyl inboard. I'm envisioning maybe a 30hp motor that can get it going 20-25 knots when I'm really on it, but is more comfortable cruising around at 10-15 knots. I don't need it to be a super fast boat, either. Modest size: I'm thinking 14-17 feet small enough to build and keep in a single car garage and tow with a compact pickup. ![]() I'm not looking to build a gar-wood speedster, though. I like the look of old Lymans, Chris-Crafts (of course), and even the plastic runabout motorboats of the 60s. And now I'm itching for something that's fun and can get me around the waterways at a faster clip. I've build a few wooden kayaks from CLC kits (and obsessed over the details and finish), I've restored a sailing dinghy, and I sail a 26 foot (plastic) sailboat. ![]()
